This month brought us a variety of exciting updates and happenings that we’re delighted to share with you. Read on to learn why we’re happy not to hear these words leave our mouths.
Also, remember the ministry we helped start in Florida to reach out to workers in our local adult entertainment industry? Here’s a little excerpt I (Fiona) received recently following our FL home church’s outreach over Christmas,
“You will also be happy to know that the adult nightclub ministry this year was great too. God was all over that too. We ministered to the girls at ****** for over 4 hours! We have expanded the ministry with ****** and will be going there every other month. Going Valentines Day week to give roses. Easter baskets in April. We’re making a catered meal for them in June and for Thanksgiving.
One of the girls who received a Christmas basket this year came to the church already and said she never wanted to go back to working in the club. The church has been helping her financially and in gaining employment interviews elsewhere. She has been at church every week. Praise God!
When I think back to how this ministry started, I am stunned at it’s growth in such a relatively short space of time. It’s absolute proof that God can work miracles with the smallest of things. Whether it’s simply our prayer, a desire, or faith the size of a mustard seed, it’s enough for Him to work with.
Then of course there’s family life that never stops with two little girls! When not learning Portuguese, making immigration plans or now researching and fundraising for a new vehicle (see below!), we of course get to hang with these two precious people. Faith is growing and is a talking machine. Ivy cut her first two teeth last week. They both enjoyed the week-long Carnavel celebrations that took place in the town here this month. We’re so grateful for the part they both play in our lives 🙂
We’re so grateful we serve a BIG God! He truly inspires our lives’ vocations and gives us greater things to do in this life than we could ever have imagined! This month we received word from our covering body in Angola that we will not be able to permanently import our current vehicle into Angola. We always knew there would be a chance that this would be the case, but we wanted to wait until we’d explored all the possibilities. Our final door to knock on has now been answered with a no, so we will now move on with plan B. Both of us are brimming with excitement at the potential increase to our faith that plan B will bring. No small task lies before us, but with God all things are possible! We’ll share more as we continue fleshing out plan B, but in the meantime you can learn more about this new challenge.
